Coming out of the blackness
This week hasn't been an easy week. Illness, dissapointments and dark moods have conspired to make life a little difficult. I wouldn't want to overstate. Its not that bad, but its just been one of those weeks where everything seems to happen at once.
But to Babel. I liked it. I didn't love it. It was ok. I'm no Barry Norman here!
Polish food however was something of a novelty. The restaurant, called Patio, is on the Goldhawk Road in Shepherd's Bush. It is one of those little, family run places that has received a lot of media exposure and its front window is jammed with press cuttings. The decor was twee and the lady in charge looked like a real Polish woman who one wouldn't want to cross. But I wasn't terribly impressed with the food. I was expecting a lot of deep frying with some spice but I found much of it bland. The desert of a bizarre cheese cake was a real highlight with its subtle sweetness but the main course of a Polish delicacy of meat wrapped in cabbage leaf was dissapointing, as was the starter of potato pancake. What I did like was the price though. £15.99 for three courses and a free shot of vodka after the main course. And the experience of the meal and the service were excellent. Polish food was really worth trying but I don't think I'd go again. Unless I was in Poland that is.
